TEMPORARY LABOR:

analysing employment in a transiction period in São Paulo stateagriculture, BrazilABSTRACT: Data over 1990 to 99 on the rural temporary non-resident workers in the State of São Paulo, Brazil, are presented and analysed, highlighting women and the teenagers’ work, its seasonality and distribution in the distinct farm sizes, wages and workers registration. Employment data were obtained from a probabilistic sample survey and wage data were provided by regional agronomists. It is shown that relevant changes in this labor category have occurred in this decade, such as those in the labor contracts.
