As relações de comércio no âmbito internacional, notadamente para o setor agropecuário, são fortemente influenciadas pelos agentes envolvidos - país ou bloco - através da definição e implementação de políticas comerciais e/ou setoriais que visam promover e/ou proteger o crescimento do espaço econômico interno. O objetivo deste artigo é examinar as características gerais de funcionamento da União Européia, principalmente o tratamento dado ao segmento agrícola e suas implicações para alguns dos principais produtos da pauta agrícola brasileira. A análise mostra que, apesar dos esforços realizados ao longo do tempo, o emprego de políticas protecionistas persiste, restringindo a entrada dos produtos analisados na UE-15.

BRAZILIAN AGRI-FOOD PRODUCTSABSTRACT: Trade relationships worldwide, and notedly in the agricultural section, are deeply influenced by the definition and implementation of the commercial/sectorial policies of the agents therein involved - either a country or economic block - that aim to promote and/or protect the growth of the internal economic space. The objective of this paper is to present general characteristics of the European Union dynamics and, in particular, of the treatment given to the agricultural segment, as well as its implications for some of the main products of the Brazilian agricultural products agenda. The analysis shows that despite the efforts made along the time, the use of protectionist policies has persisted, thereby restraining the entry of the agricultural products analyzed in the UE-15.
